Acupuncture
Acupuncture is done by inserting acupuncture needles into a targeted acupuncture point to achieve therapeutical effect.
Acupuncture needles are hair-fine needles. Mosquito bite sensation would normally be felt upon initial insertion, due to the breaking of the skin layer.
Acupuncture is normally pain free. Needling sensation to expect would be numb, achy, or sore. Under rare occasion, one would feel ticklish.
Results will not be instantaneous, however, one would normally feel refreshed after each session. Effects may differ depending on the body constituents and energy fluctuations depending on different lifestyles.
Here at Empirical Therapy Centre, we use only single-use disposable acupuncture needles.
Cupping
Cupping is done by creating a vacuum suction using a glass cup and placed on the skin to achieve therapeutical effect.
The vacuum suction is done by flaming the inside of the glass cup to remove excess interior oxygen and placing the cup on the skin.
A pulling sensation will be felt and the strength of the suction should be discussed with the practitioner while commencing the treatment procedure.
Cupping marks (if present) would normally last for a couple of days and would disappear within a week. The colour of the marking would vary depending on each individual’s constituents, signs and symptoms.
There are two kinds of cupping we do here at Empirical Therapy Centre; mobile and stationary cupping.
